Garlic Buttered Shrimps

Whatever you do with shrimps is always yummy.  And when you go to bars or Filipino restaurants, you can be sure that this is on their menu.  Whether ulam or pulutan, this is certainly one of the most popular dish there is.

Garlic Buttered Shrimps

 

Ingredients:

1/2 kg. of medium-sized shrimps

1/2 cup butter

1 tbsp cooking oil

3 cloves of garlic

1 can of soda (Sprite or 7-up)

1 tsp cayenne pepper

1 tsp sugar

a dash of salt & pepper to taste

 

Directions:

Pour half of the soda in a saucepan, add the shrimps with about 1tbsp of salt.  Cook until the shrimps changes to an orange color, about 5mins or so. Set aside.  Melt butter in the pan under low heat, add oil and garlic. Add the shrimps and the remaining soda. Stir for about a minute. Season with salt, pepper, cayenne and sugar to taste.  Serve while hot.
