Polvoron

06Feb12

I made several batches of polvoron during the holidays and have given them as a gift to some of my officemates and friends.  They absolutely loved it and some even asked for seconds.  This is the basic recipe but if you would like to have some variety, all you need to do is add half a cup of the ingredient that you want.  I usually add crushed pinipig or Oreos.

Ingredients:

2 cups of sifted flour

1 cup of powdered milk

1 cup of white granulated sugar

1 stick of butter, melted

polvoron molder

colored cellophane, cut into 3inch squares

Directions:

Toast flour in a pan until it changes to a light brown color.  Make sure to continue stirring to prevent the flour from being burnt.  Once done, let it rest for about 10minutes before transferring to a mixing bowl.  Add powdered milk and sugar and any additional ingredient (crushed pinipig, Oreos, Chocnut etc.) and stir until it is well blended.  Fold in melted butter gradually and mix well.  Cover the bowl and let it cool in the refrigerator for about 10 minutes.

Use a polvoron molder to scoop the mixture and make sure that the mold is full.  Place the polvoron at the center of the cellophane, then wrap.
